"It's the end of the music biz as we know it, and I feel fine." ... Carey Ott

Hello and welcome to the World of Ott!!!

Here are some updates that we'd like to share with you:

Carey's recent one month residency at Nashville's Basement was a great opportunity to grow with his new band and woodshed some new material. Thanks to
Red White Blue / Jessica Lea Mayfield / Kate Lamont & Blueprintmusic / Tristen and all the other artists who supported Carey during these 4 weeks.  Carey continues to write and record at Nashville's Bombshelter studios and soon there will be a 24-song double CD called "Style" to play loudly on your stereo.  Oh, and Carey just wrote a cool song with Trent Dabbs called "Oh Dear"

Carey continues to produce other artists at Velvet Shoreline, his home studio and workshop New Jersey's Kenny Woods, Chicago's [ now Nashville's ] John Whildin and Christopher Kai are Carey's latest clients and newest friends.

Check out this recent write up in the Tennessean.com:

I saw a wonderful show last night: Carey Ott at The Basement. I listened to Carey and his fine band [Red,White,Blue] of players (including Beau Burtnick, a really impressive bass player and harmony vocalist) move through an hour-long set of well-grounded roots rock. Ott is playing the next two Wednesdays at The Basement, with each show beginning at 10 p.m.

He's got at least one song that every country producer in Nashville should hear. On Ott's myspace page, "Wear You Down" is demoed up as a contemporary song that would fit Keith Urban or Tim McGraw or insert-big-radio-star-here. At The Basement, it sounded like something closer to Tom Petty or The Wallflowers. Either way, it's full of smart writing, hooky melodic turns and a huge chorus. Ott wrote the song with Dylan Altman, who wrote the McGraw hit "Watch The Wind Blow By."

Carey's July 10/08 "Writers in the Round" gig at the Bluebird Cafe with Dylan Altman , Eric Paslay and Matt Warren was taken in by a jam packed audience despite a major power outage.

Carey & His Excellent A+ Band (Featuring members of Red White Blue) will be playing select gigs in the future.

Three of those upcoming gigs are:

8.7.08 - WTMX 'Party in the Park' - Chicago, IL
8.8.08-
Uncommon Ground [ Devon Ave. location ] - Chicago, IL
8.9.07 - Northalsted Market Days - Chicago, IL

Teach For America

The charitable "Teach For America" compilation cd entitled "Before the Goldrush" will be released in September coordinated with "Back to School Time!" Carey's cover of The Bands "Twilight" from their Northern Lights / Southern Cross album is a must hear! Other artists featured are Neko Case, Tracy Bonham, Alicia Wiley, William Fitzsimmons, The Swell Season, Pieta Brown, Willoughby, Okkervil River,  and several other other excellent artist's!

Expect the release and marketing of Carey's 24 song CD to be around mid-September.  We're asking our fan base to give us an assist in the marketing of the CD.  If you are interested in giving us a hand, please reach out to us!  We'll let you in on the juicy details if you know the secret handshake!

Thank you 1,000,000 for your support!!!

Cheers!
